‘Tis the Season for Permits!

(and to work on your roll!)

Permit lotteries opened up December 1st and are open until January 31st. So if you’re thinking about doing a river trip in 2025, now is the time to apply for your permit. If you win, you could invite your good friend Nik who has his own raft and is a swiftwater rescue instructor! 😁

Don’t know how to apply for permits? Check out this presentation I made about the in’s and out’s of applying and what to do if you win and if you don’t.

Winter is also the season for practicing your roll. I just added a bunch of class sessions for roll instruction at the pool at the Clear Creek Recreation Center in Idaho Springs.

If you think your roll might need a bit of tuning this winter, book a lesson with me. I teach more roll classes every year than any other instructor in Colorado and I often work with people who haven’t had success with a friend or even another instructor.

PS. Made it this far? I like to include a random outdoor-related thing with each email: I’m currently reading “Where are Your Men?” a river anthology of short stories by a bad-ass crew of women who have boated together for decades.
