More Rolling Dates and a Free Webinar with Nik

Sept 15, 2025

I got to run Bailey during Bailey Fest. Deer Creek Rapid (V) is so fun!

More Rolling Classes

As promised in the last email, we’ve added 4 more dates for rolling classes through the end of the year. That’s only 12 slots! Sign up ASAP if you don’t want to wait until January. I’m going to the Grand Canyon for November and with that, plus holidays, there just aren’t that many Wednesdays before the end of the year (how did that happen?!?!)

Free Webinar Tuesday!

I’m hosting a free webinar (Zoom link) at 6pm on Tuesday about Heuristic Traps and how you can make better decisions with your groups in the backcountry. This is part 6 in an ongoing series of webinars about how we can improve the art/skill/science/world of Swiftwater Rescue. The series is known as “Rescue Jams” and if you’d like to follow when future Jams will happen, you can join the Facebook Group.

Again the details:

6pm (MT) Tuesday September 16th. Just click here to join the zoom meeting!

Want more Swiftwater this year? I’m going to be teaching at the National Swiftwater Rescue Conference October 17th-19th at the National Whitewater Center in North Carolina. Sign up soon before the hotel block sells out or you can camp.

“Nik does a great job utilizing the river and maximizing learning opportunities. Also thought the amount of attention each student received was great (lots of individualized feedback but allowed time for students to play around with techniques without being overloaded with feedback).” - recent post-lesson survey response

See you on the river!

PS. Made it this far? I like to include a random outdoor-related thing with each email: 17 Days in Canada’s Middle Earth. I’m a sucker for good cinematography and an amateur film maker making such a stunning film in the middle of the Northwest Territories is nuts to me. I’ve now added like 5 more trips to the bucket list after falling into the rabbit hole of their outfitter’s website.
